Along with some of the UK’s most talented and original jewellery designer/makers we will be exhibiting at the beautifully refurbished Somerset House as part of London Jewellery week in the Goldsmiths’ Company Pavillion. Paul Dyson, Director of Promotion said: “The Goldsmiths’ Company is constantly striving to find new and exciting opportunities to showcase the remarkable talents of contemporary British jewellers and we are delighted to be taking the Goldsmiths’ Company Pavilion to Somerset House. The newly refurbished East Wing of this spectacular neo-classical building, one of London’s architectural gems, is the perfect venue for a dazzling show of spectacular design-focused jewellery. Participating jewellers are vetted and accredited by the Goldsmiths’ Company which for centuries has supported and encouraged superlative craftsmanship and design integrity among goldsmiths and silversmiths.

In addition to the excellent fine jewellers working in gold, silver and platinum who are the signature of the Goldsmiths’ Company, you can expect to see jewellers making use of a range of supplementary materials including: Perspex, resin, Whitby jet, recycled materials and other surprising elements.

We have some new designs for 2012 already underway and can’t wait to take part in this event, we really hope to see you there!

With just a few select wedding suppliers being present you can find all you need for planning your perfect day under one roof. The dates for forthcoming open mornings are:

I am really excited to have been selected to exhibit at the prestigious Goldsmiths’ Fair in London once again this year. It’s always an honour to exhibit at this beautiful hall and to be surrounded by so many talented gold and silversmiths, each with their own unique and inspirational style.

I will be exhibiting on stand no 22 during the 1st week of the Fair from Monday 26th September – Sunday 2nd October. As well as showcasing my current collection, I have been busy working on some new designs that will get their first preview at the fair! New Website

So you’re here, which means we did it, the new website has arrived! I say we but in true Oscar style there does need to be a thank you or two. Namely to Scott and Gemma at Toggle who have developed the new site. Their advice and patience with us has been second to none and we would recommend them wholeheartedly. Also worth a shout are Gemma’s beautiful handmade laptop/phone/ipad cases…how she has found the time to make the new range with clients like us is anyone’s guess but do check them out. And next to Dan, my amazingly talented brother-in-law who, for no more than coffee and biscuits, has devoted the past few months to project managing and collaborating in the design of the website, writing content, photographing jewellery….the list goes on. We can’t thank him enough for the help and the laughs, and while I should point out that payment by coffee and biscuits is a family-only privilege, he’s still pretty reasonable, so if you like what he does email him rbdanny@hotmail. com

So why the re-vamp? Well we hope you’ll agree that the new site better showcases the jewellery and features many more new designs. There’s also now the E-boutique where you can be assured of secure on-line purchasing. We also wanted to raise the profile of commissioning a piece of jewellery – often forgotten in a world where things are so easily accessible, either on the high street or online. For anyone considering this hopefully we can help demystify the process, which can be fun and indescribably rewarding.

So there it is. We’re aiming to update the site with news and new designs as often as possible and would love for you all to be involved. Any comments or ideas, good, bad or indifferent are always welcome and taken on board so please contact us or follow us on Facebook. We hope you enjoy the new site!

New Pen Design

Inspired by master pen maker Franco Pierro, I have designed this luxury fountain pen which is now ready to be made in collaboration. As a craftsman I am constantly inspired by the artistry of others and it was out of a conversation with Franco that I really started to consider how special a pen is. It’s a beautiful instrument because it performs such a beautiful function. It’s a pen that seals the deal for historic moments, puts ink on marriage certificates, and although we’ve got computers, if you wanted to communicate to somebody your thoughts and feelings, is there really any substitute for something hand written? Maybe I am eulogising too much, I guess a biro could perform the same function, but I wanted to craft a pen that is a celebration of the intimacy of writing by hand.

Meticulously chosen wood expertly turned by Franco is then pressure treated with resin to make it durable, and to emphasise the beauty woven into the grain. And ornamented with 217 diamonds totalling approximately 5.75 carats, and 3 black Tahitian pearls, in its elegance I hope this is a befitting tribute to the art.

So now all it needs is somebody with appreciation, a discerning eye, and enough cash to say, ‘”I like it, I like it a lot, go make it.” And that would make me happy because I’ve heard it said that a pen can define who you are, but in this case I think also that the person who buys this, and how they use it, will define what this pen is.

Corollata Necklace

The dazzling ‘Corollata’ Necklace is made from 18ct White Gold and features 80 brilliant-cut diamonds surrounding a 0.50 carat centre stone. Worn here on an 18ct White Gold cable chain, there are a further 6 brilliant-cut diamonds on the bail. The Corollata Necklace was designed and made by our very talented workshop Manager, David Bridger who won the Silver award for Senior Diamond Mounters at the Goldsmiths’ Design & Craft council awards in 2009.
